Happy Birthday Maimie

I'm am temporarily relinquishing control of my blog to my husband so that he may wish his mom a happy birthday. I don't know which is cuter in this picture, the two of them or their little shadow to the left.
Enter Shaun. Well, I would like to say to my mother, Maimie, that you are truly an inspiration to me and all the lives you touch. You have the unique ability to love, care, help, inspire, and bring out the best in everyone. I love watching you interact with Jackson and Harrison as it reminds me of when I was little and you would play with me. I can only imagine what we looked like together when I was a little as Harrison. Happy Birthday Mom. I love you. Please take care of yourself, as well as dad. I love you. Giddy giddy ga.

look of love

I love this little guy to pieces. I can't believe he is already 9 months. He has almost been out of me as long as he was in me. That's a weird thought...huh?

Mom Oscars

Don't you think we should all get awards for just being moms. I mean, it is hard work. Are the cute, smiling faces of our offspring our award. I guess that is what most would say. I am a movie girl. Yet, the only movie I saw this year that was nominated was Juno. Motherhood has really kept me from the movies. Well, it has kept me from a lot.
My mom kept Jackson Saturday night and she said he never stopped talking. Lately, he is very curious about the big bang theory (don't ask). Just know, it is hard to explain to a 3 year old. Oh, and he saw Friday's paper with the guy from Phantom of the Opera on the cover of weekender. Yes, he is very concerned with why that guy has a 1/2 a mask, how he got burned and why he sings with his hand out. His Ga Ga was stuck trying to explain that one.
Hope you all have a good week.

Happy Valentine's Hot Hubby!

This cute guy puts up with me and all my flaws. I think he looks scruffy and I like it. Thanks to shutter sisters and Melody for reminding me to see this guy; the guy I love and will be married to for 10 years next month. Love you babe!

Valentine's 08

Here are the boys in thier Valentine's t-shirts courtesy of Tia Penny (or Tiny Penny). Jackson's says "Prince Charming" and Harrison's says "Single and Loving It"!
The boys even stayed home for Karate so that we could go out to dinner and celebrate. I got a new camera bag, a Crumbler and Shaun is getting a new phone. Life is good.

1/2 a tooth & almost crawling

This is my little 8 1/2 month old attempting to crawl. He just goes up instead of out. Zoom in and notice the one tiny tooth. I am so glad that teeth and crawling are taking a while. I love that he is "staying little" for me. Yet, the crawling will happen any day. I am so not ready to really baby proof the house.
"Upward and Onward" as they say....

A blogger confession

So, I don't know who out there checks my blog regularly. But don't. I cant keep up. Just make sure you try to stop by early in the week as I'll try to post on Sundays, but the daily posting are not going to happen. Here are my reasons...
1. My new camera is not happy uploading pictures...it is taking FOREVER and I can not sit around and wait.
2. I can not blog at work. The guilt, the guilt.
3. By 9pm when both boys are in bed, so am I. I mean this is the deal; When I walk upstairs at 6:30 pm to put Harrison down, I don't like to come back downstairs. Once I am upstairs, I've got kids to bath, clothes to fold and reading...which leads me to number 4
4. Graduate school. The guilt again, if I have time to blog, I have time to read about Race and Ethnicity (the title of my Graduate Sociology course). And as much as I love the course, it is hard to pick between the history of racism, a People magizine, my book club book of the month, or The Biggest Loser or In Treatment on the PVR.
So blogging is not on the top of my To Do list. I want to do it, but life takes priority.
But to all you other bloggers, I do take the time to check each of your blogs daily (Brene, Jenny, Maile, Melody, Angelia, and Gina) - so please keep up the good work and know that I am watching and reading.

A 2 compliment Monday

Last monday I got two compliments in one day. The kind of compliments that stick with you. Aren't those the best? Well, I had a student tell me that after a conversation with me that she was changing her major and going to be a social worker. That really made my day. Then on my drive home, my dear friend, a almost a bride, Jeanette (her wedding to super cute Scott is in just a few months) commented on my blog. She said that she loved how I was starting to ask questions as I wrote. She said I was the Carrie Bradshaw of mommy blogs. Well, I should have just called it a day at that point. WOW. Quite an overstatement, but I will take all the compliments I can get. I hope each of you have the same sort of Monday this week.

I know these compliments make me smile the cheesy "I'm riding the train" smile whenever I think about them.

Eat like a kid

Seems that everyone is always talking about their weight. Women especially. Two women I know in their 80's still talk about how much weight they want to lose. Let's all make a pact, once we hit 75+ let's not talk about our weight again.

Wouldn't it be nice to enjoy food with no guilt? Like when you are pregnant ...or 3 years old.

bath time

I was looking through a scrapbook of Jackson today and founds some pictures I took of him in the kitchen sink. Thought it was time to do it with Harrison. Please indulge me and look at this cutie!

sick

Well, it started with Harrison throwing up. Jackson said it looked like a waterfall. Then Jackson got it and threw up into his trashcan. Now everyone knows that story because he loves to tell it.

When he was in the throws of a high fever (I was called home from Bunco) and he looked pale and pitiful I actually thought, "We need to call his mom. She would know what to do." Anyone else feel like that? I swear sometimes, I wonder how I am parent. I feel like I am still the girl with the cute mini-skirt outfit on from Express and the big, curly permed hair. But no, I am the mom to two sick boys and I have no idea how to help.

Then last night it was passed to the parents. Ugh! We both had it and had it bad. It is very hard to parent, be nice, and take care of your kids when you feel like crap. And it seems that the more space you need, the more they want you.

Today was better. By about 6pm tonight we actually felt normal. So, our date night tonight (kids too) included a trip to the pool store, donuts at Krispy Kreme, and a walk around the neighborhood. It was also a day of "firsts." Harrison and Jackson were both able to sit side by side in the grocery cart and Harrison never fell over (or out, if you remember that story). And Jackson and Harrison took a bath together tonight. Harrison stayed up-right for that too! He is getting big and finally his first tooth is starting to show. What an exciting weekend.
