The forgotten photo

This is one of those pictures that at first glance you skip over and then later makes you smile...big. This is all natural - wind and Harrison's naturally fly away hair.

You know you are old when...

So we are at the wedding this weekend. The bride and groom are under 30 years old. As the DJ begins, Shaun and I recognize most of the music. We were getting into some of it. Then the a remake of one of my favorite old songs comes on. Shaun and I had never heard the remake before and it began quite similarly to the old one, so we are enjoying ourselves and feeling pretty hip...I start remembering the song and the time period that goes with it. I remember living with Yvette in the dorms at Southwest Texas State, (not Texas State), working at the Shoe Box, driving my old gold Mercury Lynx...that is until the chorus. Oh my god, I am old. Can I say it??? It is awful. I know I am old when I think a song is too loud and too "heavy metal." Shaun and I then began making faces with all the other "older people" there that the song was so bad. Here are the links (I hope they work) to see what I am talking about. The first link should take you back to a good place. Let me know your thoughts on the second one.

Okay so I have decided, this is the deal. If you like the first one best, you blog (or visit blogs), if you like the second one best, you have a myspace page...

I made it...

Well, I survived the weekend, The sleeveless dress and b-day party are all things of the past. I am so glad for pictures right now, because time just seems to be going by so quickly. I now have a 4 year old and an almost 1 year old. Aren't they pretty cute?

4 Years Ago Today

Happy 4th Birthday Jackson. Boy, was your birth tough. Then you went straight to the NICU for 2 days. Then the jaundice came. Ugh! Yet, it was all worth it. Look at you now. I love you mucho Little Man.

American Idol 2020

American Idol - watch out! This is my normal car ride. It is Jackson creating songs and singing them at the top of his voice. When you watch, wait for the chorus, in the middle (and the shoe take off). What is this mom to do? I still have the DVD player in the car from Dallas, and let me tell you, the car rides have been so quiet...that is until Jackson yells (you know how someone talks really loud because they have on ear phones) that he needs something. I struggle because my morning 40 minute commutes would be so much more quiet if I left the DVD player in the car, but then I would miss these moments. If I knew how to insert one of those little "polls" right here, I would. But I don't, so please vote on if I should leave the DVD player hooked up or not. Rules - you must watch the whole video to vote.

Happy Easter

If you don't mind, please indulge this mom and her video.

It gets better towards the middle. I wish it wasn't so dark but we are lucky I could even figure this much out. It is so weird when your child starts singing a song that you don't even know. I really couldn't help him figure out the end...and no one else could either.

We had a great Easter -Thanks Fey Family for the lovely lunch and afternoon. Shaun's family celebrated with us too, it was a great day. This is the 3rd year we have spent at my parent's for Easter - I really love this tradition.

The Big D

We went to Dallas for Spring Break to stay with Vanna and her boys. My boys, her boys, her house was filled with boys. 6 boys total and Vanna and I. Wow, how have our lives changed! I brought the cute outfits and the camera, I thought the pictures would come easy, I mean, no one is really crawling a ton but the great shot did not materialize. Oh well. We had tons of fun. She lives in the best neighborhood ever!!! We walked to breakfast two days in a row and walked to the park every day. One day we even walked to a Mexican restaurant to have margaritas. I've never pushed a stroller to have a drink, and then pushed one home a 1/2 mile, but let me tell you it is wonderful. Really, it was quite nice and it made my date that night (with Vanna and Jackson) much more enjoyable - we went to see Horton hears a Who! I am so impressed with Vanna and what a great mom she is...I am in awe of how well she handles twin boys. Jack and Nate are too cute for words but the work it takes is amazing. Seeing an old friend in "mom mode" is really neat when you remember how long we have known each other. We spent our 16th b-days together, so you know we have been friends a long time.
The trip there only took us about 5 1/2 hours; and that's with a 10 month old with a double ear infection and 2 day old pink eye and a 3.99 year old that went potty every 20 minutes (another blog post on that soon). The way home was much worse. The kids did fine but the trip took closer to 9 hours and this mama is super tired. My goal is to try to get the house back in order ASAP. I am kind of dreading this week, there is a ton going on. We've got Easter, karate, graduate school, book club, an award at a school board meeting, I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding, and Jackson's 4th b-day party. Don't you think that is a little too much for 7 days??? Wish me luck.

Love Thursday

Not the best picture; but I think you see that we are having fun.
Any ideas for a kid friendly 1-2 day vacation with the boys? I'd love to go somewhere for spring break and our 10 year anniversary. Let me know if you've got some great ideas or want 2 lovely boys for 36 hours (really, I will take them back).
